Flagstaff hosts a city-wide annual 10 day science festival in September. The festival has so much to offer - hands on exhibits, special presentations at Lowell Observatory and the Museum of Northern AZ, hikes to special places around Northern AZ, and all kinds of other really fun science adventures. If we could've, I would've spent the week up there with the kids and we would have learned so much neat stuff about the area and our world in general. Instead, we took the girls to a Science in the Park exhibit on a Saturday, and had a great time.
Delaney drew a picture by swinging a board with a marker attached to it, and watching how it moved in various shapes. The gentleman at this booth and Cullen had a fun time chatting about physics for a little while.
We learned about protecting the creatures in the forest...
Learned about the size of planets as made with play-doh...
Watched some really cool experiments with carbon dioxide at the Lowell Observatory booth...
Sophie found a really great stick. It turned out to be a fairy wand to turn me into several different animals while she waited for her sisters...:)
We played with some legos...
Learned about how forest fires spread, and how the forest service helps to prevent big fires...
Learned about the parts of the body...
They had a solar oven that could bake cookies in about 3 minutes! I wish I had taken a picture of that. We will have to try it with Hailey's solar oven.
We were there for almost 2 hours and didn't see half of the exhibits! It was really cool, and I hope we can take advantage of more of the festival next year.
